Thanks for posting! Collecting these tokens is definitely an area of the hobby that flies under the radar for most.

Years ago, I exhibited my collection of silver strikes from the New York, New York casino at one of the summer ANA Conventions. It was a fun set to put together, and included a few varieties that were a bit of a challenge. The exhibit did well with the judges as I recall.

Is this an active collecting area for you?

I think these (tokens in general) are all obsolete now. Do any casinos still use them? Last time I went they only used machines that took paper money and paid out in receipts.

yes all are no longer used and have no cash value, as far as I have been able to determine. I recently picked up about 80 or so of older ones and will be photoing them and posting soon.

Back in the 1960’s-80’s the Franklin Mint produced a lot on nice tokens many in collector’s sets so they are easy to find in high grade. Regular business strikes from any casino after a short time in the machines get very chewed up. I have found that high grade regular tokens of that era are very hard to find and are often underrated.
